SHOWCASE ROOSEVELT – FRIDAY, APRIL 26 – SAVE THE DATE!! 
All aboard the RMS Showcase Cruise on Friday, April 26th!  Have a great time with the whole family having dinner, enjoying fabulous shipboard entertainment, bidding on house baskets, art and auction items, and participating in fun games like a cake walk, karaoke, and shipboard games.
Don’t forget to give a bit of your time to help Showcase be the best ever. We need LOTS of volunteers so click here to see the various opportunities to chip in.  Or, if you prefer, contact Julie Marks, marks_j@4j.lane.edu.  A very sincere thank you for giving your time.
CALLING ALL ARTISTS!  Showcase will feature an Art Show & Sale in the Seven Seas Gallery.  We need donations of art or handcrafted items to sell or display. We would love to show your work- drawings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, carvings, quilts, knitted/crocheted item, glass, etc…  Original art work will be accepted in the office.  Be sure to fill out the Art Form available in the office.  Thank you!
SHIPBOARD ENTERTAINMENT Wanted!  We would love to see our students share their talent, humor, or wacky skill in the RMS Showcase entertainment line-up.  There are several stages, both large and small, and a student can perform both individually or in a group.  To sign up, students can fill out a flyer available in the office.

Thank you to Mucho Gusto for donating $350 to Roosevelt during it’s fund raiser earlier this week.  Please also thank the families who participated.

HOUSE BASKETS

Don’t forget about your student’s House basket.  Contributions to baskets will be collected until April 24th.  The sooner contributions come in, the better!
ACTIVITY NIGHT
Our final Activity Night of the year is next month, Friday, May 10th.  Save the date and if you would like to help out that night please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Julie Marks, marks_j@4j.lane.edu
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but Chris’ birthday wasn’t last week! We will be celebrating at Activity Night instead. Dress code is formal.
OKLAHOMA PERFORMANCES
Students in Carol Sinclair and Richard Leebrick’s Musical Theater class will be performing Oklahoma! soon.  Performance dates and times are as follows:
Friday, May 17 – Thursday, May 23 – each night at 7:00pm
plus a Sunday, May 19 matinee performance at 2:00pm

BENEFIT CONCERT

“Rockin’ the 80s” is a benefit concert for the Rose Children’s Theater Scholarship Fund.  It runs April 19, 20 and 21 at the Wildish Theater, 630 Main St., Springfield. Tickets are $10. A number of RMS students are performing.  Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. (a special late show!) on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.  Come out and support the arts and your fellow students and enjoy some of the top hits from the 1980s in this energetic show!

FREE CLINICS IN LATEST OLYMPIC SPORT
Students of all grades and genders are invited to a free non-contact clinic where they can experience the latest Olympic sport, sevens rugby. Seven-a-side rugby is a fast-flowing game in which all players can handle the ball and score!
Sevens is like soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee and football combined, and will make its Olympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Fun-filled mini-games will teach participants basic handling and running skills – with special sessions set aside for Grades 1-3.
The clinics will be supervised by USA Rugby trained coaches, and are presented by Schools 7s Rugby in Lane County – formed by parents to promote sevens rugby in Lane County schools.

REPEATED FROM LAST WEEKSCHOOL BOND
School Bond Measure on May Ballot
A measure that would provide local funding for Eugene public schools is on the May 21 election ballot.
The bond measure, Measure 20-210, would allow the Eugene School District to:
·       Replace aging buildings that are worn and costly to maintain
·       Provide better instructional facilities for students
·       Support effective classroom instruction by acquiring updated technology and instructional materials
·       Address student safety and security across the district
If the measure is approved, property tax rates for Eugene School District bond debt would increase by about 24¢ per $1,000 assessed value. Property taxes would increase by about $42 a year for the median homeowner in the district, with an assessed value of $174,000.By law, bond money can only be spent on capital facilities (such as buildings, athletic fields and parking lots), equipment and technology. It cannot be used to pay for teachers, school days or school programs.Ballots will be mailed to registered voters beginning May 3 and must be returned to the county elections office or an official ballot drop box by May 21, 8 p.m.For more information, please see www.4j.lane.edu.

Un propuesta sobre los impuestos en plebiscito del 21 de mayo podría proporcionar fondos para las escuelas públicas de Eugene.Los fondos obtenidos a través de la propuesta de emisión de bonos, Propuesta 20-210, le permitirían al Distrito Escolar de Eugene:

SUMMER CAMP
