Cultural Festiva
l-  On May 29th, 2:00-3:15 we need 4-8 people to hang the 6th graders’ cultural festival posters.

8th Grade Pool Party and Dance Volunteer Needs

The 8th Grade Promotion, Dance and Pool Party are just around the corner!  Promotion is Friday, June 7th 6:30-8:00 followed by the dance from 8:00-10:00.  How can you help?  We’re glad you asked.
Dance Decorations in B Gym:  9:15–3:00  4 people needed to hang gossamer and stars in the B gym.  (2 of you) should be comfortable on a lift.
Cafeteria Decorations :  4:00-6:00   4-6 parents needed to decorate and set up the cafeteria for a buffet dinner.
Cafeteria ready for buffet : 6:30/7:00-8:00    3-4 6th and 7th grade parents needed to relieve the 8th grade parents so they may attend the promotion ceremony, ONE PERSON to come at 6:30 to be in charge until Tory returns.
Dinner Service:   8:00-10:00  3 parents to buss dishes and replenish the buffet
Dinner Clean Up:  10:00-done   4 parents needed
Dance Chaperone:     7:45-10:15  2-3 6th and 7th grade parents to chaperone the dance.

The 8th Grade Pool Party is Monday, June 10th, 11:30-3:00.
9:30-11:15   10 people needed to help set up by moving tables and food to Amazon Pool.
11:15-12:15  3 people needed to check in 8th graders at Amazon Pool.
11:15-3:00    1 person needed to help with check in and then to stay on until 3:00 for front entrance supervision.
11:00-3:00    6 people needed to set up and serve lunch.
11:30-3:00    1 person needed to serve sno cones with Kacey.
11:30-3:00     2 floaters needed to help with general supervision.

Fresh Flower Crew–  We need 2 volunteers to pick up donated flowers from Trader Joes on Monday, June 3rd and arrange them into smaller vases for the teachers’ classrooms.  Also, we are looking for volunteers to be on the Fresh Flower Crew for next year.
Lunch Mentor Coordinator–  For next year, we need a parent to work with our school counselor and coordinate our lunch mentor program, which pairs mentors with RMS students to connect once a week for lunch.
To All Roosevelt Parents,
It has truly been a pleasure to serve as Chair of PAR (Parents At Roosevelt) these past two years! I have really enjoyed working with other parents, staff, teachers and students. But, I won’t be a Roosevelt parent next year, and we need one or two people to step up and volunteer to be Chair or Co-Chairs for PAR.  The monthly meetings have been moved to the evening, the first Monday of each month, to help make them more accessible to more parents.  Beyond that commitment, the PAR Chair, or Co-Chairs, have a great deal of control over how much time is given.  I’d be happy to talk with any interested parent, or you can contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Julie Marks, in the RMS Office. Dear Parents of incoming freshmen at South Eugene High School,
Please mark your calendars for May 28, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.  You and your incoming freshman student are invited to attend an important event that will meet in the SEHS cafeteria (on the south end of the school).  Administrators, counselors, staff, and parent volunteers will be on hand to provide you with information about freshman orientation, scheduling, curriculum, extra-curricular activities, summer programs, and more. SEHS staff members look forward to meeting you on May 28!

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 13.  Tickets will be sold ONLY before and after school, in front of the office from 8:15 to 8:45 before school, and from 3:30 – 4 after school. Cast lists are available with the ticket sales volunteers.  Seating is limited and there may not be tickets available at the door the night of the performance so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.
Friday through Sunday, May 17-19 — Buy a Pair of Keens and Earn $20 for your School!
For every pair of Keens you buy, Footwise will donate $20 to the local public school of your choice. $10 donation with kids’ and Keen flip-flop purchases.  Footwise is located at 181 E. Broadway.

Have a blast this summer at the OAR South Eugene Rowing Club Camp on Dexter Lake!  Open to girls and boys entering 8th – 12th grade. We provide new rowers an opportunity to discover the joys of rowing in a fun, team environment,  Transportation provided to and from South Eugene High to Dexter Lake.  Times are 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Session 1:  July 22 – 26th
Session 2: July 29 – August 2
Those who attend both weeks have the opportunity to travel to Seattle August 3rd for a regatta!

This summer, LTD will offer a special Summer Youth Freedom Pass valid July 1 – August 31 for $35. This year’s pass will be a silicone wrist band that is more difficult to lose than a traditional pass and is durable enough to stand up to hectic youth activities. The passes will be on sale May 20 through June 3, to give students the opportunity to purchase the pass before school is out.
SCHOOL BOND – Ballots Due May 21st!
School Bond Measure on May Ballot
A measure that would provide local funding for Eugene public schools is on the May 21 election ballot.
The bond measure, Measure 20-210, would allow the Eugene School District to:
·       Replace aging buildings that are worn and costly to maintain
·       Provide better instructional facilities for students
·       Support effective classroom instruction by acquiring updated technology and instructional materials
·       Address student safety and security across the district
If the measure is approved, property tax rates for Eugene School District bond debt would increase by about 24¢ per $1,000 assessed value. Property taxes would increase by about $42 a year for the median homeowner in the district, with an assessed value of $174,000.

By law, bond money can only be spent on capital facilities (such as buildings, athletic fields and parking lots), equipment and technology. It cannot be used to pay for teachers, school days or school programs.

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters beginning May 3 and must be returned to the county elections office or an official ballot drop box by May 21, 8 p.m.

Un propuesta sobre los impuestos en plebiscito del 21 de mayo podría proporcionar fondos para las escuelas públicas de Eugene.

Los fondos obtenidos a través de la propuesta de emisión de bonos, Propuesta 20-210, le permitirían al Distrito Escolar de Eugene:

• Reemplazar edificios deteriorados cuyo mantenimiento resulta muy caro
