Tonight! – 6th Grade Cultural Festival – Come celebrate Roosevelt’s Cultural Festival on Thursday, May 30th from 6:30-8:00pm.  Roosevelt’s 6th grade students have worked hard to create projects that celebrate the vibrant cultural of your community.   The evening will begin with a performance by Roosevelt Voices, our 6th grade choir,  in the D-gym. The rest of the evening is a gallery viewing in C and D Halls of all the projects.

6th and 7th Grade Parents–  Now is a great time to pay it forward!  By helping with the 8th grade dance and pool party, you’ll be learning the ropes to help plan a fabulous experience when your student is an 8th grader.
8th Grade Parents–  We are still looking for LOTS of volunteer support to make the dance and pool party the best it can be.  Now is a great time to let us know how you can help.

The last day of school is Monday, June 10.  It is a half day, early release.  ALL students are expected to attend.  School will be dismissed at 11:30.  Students who do not need to ride a school bus home may leave upon dismissal at 11:30  The following is the basic schedule for the day:
8:55-9:45         House Party & say goodbye to 8th graders
10:00-11:00         Assembly – A.C.T. Peace Hero Award; Minute to Win It games
11:00-11:30         Yearbook signing and courtyard social
11:30         8th graders walk to Amazon Pool for 8th grade pool party
11:30         6th & 7th graders who do not ride a school bus may leave
11:30         Lunch available in cafeteria – regular rates apply
12:30         School buses pick up students
Roosevelt has had several students infected with Whooping Cough.  Whooping cough is a serious respiratory infection caused by a type of bacteria called Bordetella pertussis.  The infection causes violent, uncontrollable coughing that can make it difficult to breathe.
Signs and symptoms include:
  • Usually starts with a sore throat with a mild feeling of tiredness.
  • Runny nose, sneezing, coughing and low grade fever.
  • It is a contagious respiratory tract infection that is transmitted by coming into contact with fluids from someone who is infected.
If your child has not had the Tdap immunization to protect against whooping cough, call your doctor’s office or a clinic below for an appointment.  Please give an updated immunization record to your school as soon as your child gets the Tdap vaccine.   Thank you!

Have a blast this summer at the OAR South Eugene Rowing Club Camp on Dexter Lake!  Open to girls and boys entering 8th – 12th grade. We provide new rowers an opportunity to discover the joys of rowing in a fun, team environment,  Transportation provided to and from South Eugene High to Dexter Lake.  Times are 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Session 1:  July 22 – 26th
Session 2: July 29 – August 2
Those who attend both weeks have the opportunity to travel to Seattle August 3rd for a regatta!

This summer, LTD will offer a special Summer Youth Freedom Pass valid July 1 – August 31 for $35. This year’s pass will be a silicone wrist band that is more difficult to lose than a traditional pass and is durable enough to stand up to hectic youth activities. The passes will be on sale May 20 through June 3, to give students the opportunity to purchase the pass before school is out.
