IS YOUR CHILD MISSING a JACKET? Sweatshirt? Other items?
Please stop by the office (or ask your child to check the Lost and Found Closet in the Commons Area across from the office) to claim lost items that belong to your child.  On April 4th, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity.

Thanks to the generosity of Roosevelt supporters, we have raised $56,000 to support next year’s staffing! On April 4 Chris will learn our staffing allocation from the District, so there is still time to G.I.V.E toward our goal of $100,000. Every dollar counts towards our rich programming and mission of excellence at Roosevelt, so go to www.eeflane.org to make an online donation, noting RMS Staffing, or use the voucher attached to this e-news. Contact Larry Banks at larrybanks99@gmail.com for more information.

8th Grade Picture Day
We need 2-3 volunteers to help with 8th grade photos on Friday, April 4th 9:00-11:00.

Showcase Volunteers Needed
We need a kitchen manager for the showcase food venue.  We’ve got a menu in place and volunteers to do the shopping. The notes from past years are detailed to make it easy to take over.  Last year’s food coordinator has even offered to help in the planning.  So we really just need someone to step up and execute.
We also need someone fun and creative to help with signs and decorations for the night of showcase.
Please contact our volunteer coordinator with any questions and your availability, Julie at marks_j@4j.lane.edu .

Don’t forget that our 1st day of practice will be Monday, March 31st.  Practice will begin promptly at 3:45 PM and we will be meeting in the D-gym.  Please bring plenty of ‘layers’ of clothing to be prepared for any sort of weather!

PLEASE NOTE:  You will not be able to practice or compete in a meet until all of your paperwork has been submitted to the main office.  Remember…physicals only need to be completed every TWO years.  If you had one last year, you do not need one to participate this year.  If you aren’t sure if your physical is valid or have other questions, please contact Coach Johannsen.

Don’t wait until the last minute!  Get your forms turned in as soon as possible, and get ready for an incredible 2014 RMS track and field season!

Coach Johannsen

RMS Ultimate Frisbee will be starting up again on April 1, the first Tuesday after Spring Break, as usual after school from 3:45 to 5:30 at the fields west of the D Gym.  Ultimate is co-ed and open to all skill levels and grades.  Please bring cleats and shorts suitable for field sports.  Any questions please email rmsultimate@gmail.com or call Ian Richardson at 541-515-1881.

Attention 8th grade families:  8th grade individual and panoramic pictures will be taken on the first Friday after spring break, on April 4.  Picture packets will be sent home soon.  All 8th graders will have their pictures taken for their promotion certificates, even if they choose not to purchase pictures.

“Children of Eden,” a musical featuring members of the Roosevelt Middle School family, will be presented by Rose Children’s Theatre at Sheldon High School the weekends of April 11 and 18.  Directed by Tama Rowan and Evynne Hollens and loosely based on the Book of Genesis, “Children of Eden” features a multi-generational cast of 62, ages 6 to 84, and a 17-piece orchestra.  Stephen Schwartz of “Wicked” fame adapted the script and wrote the music.   RMS students and faculty in the play include:  8th-grader Jenny Bryant, 8th-grader Aaron Conover, and 6th grader Quinn Hansen.  Drama teacher Richard Leebrick is also a performer in the play.

Shows are 7 p.m. on April 11, 12, 18 and 19, and 2 p.m. on April 12, 13 and 19.  Tickets are $10 for students and can be purchased online at www.therct.com or an hour before the show at the box office.

We are looking for a few more 6th grade girls who want to play soccer to join our Kidsports team for the Spring season.  No experience necessary!  It’s a great group of nice girls who are on the South region team, and they have a terrific time together learning soccer skills, sportsmanship, competing and building lasting friendships!
Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays, probably from 6-7:30, with games probably on weekends, starting after Spring Break.
If interested, please sign up at the Kidsports office.  Cost will be $75 plus $12 OYSA fee, plus a $10 late fee (as the deadline has passed, but Kidsports still will let you sign up).  Scholarships are available.  For more information, call Sarah Petersen, team parent, at 541-579-4652 or Christine Mayer, coach, at 541-409-8193.
