Welcome back to school! Here’s the first edition of RMS eNews for the 2014-15 school year. If you know families new to Roosevelt, please encourage them to sign up for the weekly eNews by sending a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: If your student no longer attends Roosevelt, and you would like to be removed from this list, please follow the OPT OUT instructions at the bottom of this email.
Thank you to all families who have their Fred Meyer Rewards Card attached to Roosevelt. Thanks to you, Fred Meyer donated $87.38 to Roosevelt.
Thanks also to everyone who helped with the Roosevelt aid station at the Eugene Marathon. Because of your participation, the Eugene Marathon donated $300 to Roosevelt’s track team.
LUNCHTIME MENTORING AT ROOSEVELT
Would your student benefit from having extra support at school? Roosevelt has a lunchtime mentoring program through which students are paired with adults in our community (college students, retirees, and others) to eat lunch together once a week and share conversation. Benefits of the lunchtime mentor program include having an extra adult to talk to about problems at school and getting extra support while going through a challenging time. Student participation is voluntary and students are matched with an adult who shares his/her interests. The school counselor administers the program with the assistance of a parent volunteer. All adults must pass a criminal background check and receive training. If you’d like more information about the lunchtime mentor program, or if you’d like to recommend your student for the program, please contact the counselor, Casey Tiemann, at email@example.com (Please note Casey’s email address in the newsletter sent home in the back-to-school envelope was incorrect.)
