We are hoping for healthy and protein rich items.  Some suggestions here:RMS_HAPprogram-01

* All volunteers must have a current background check at Roosevelt (4j background checks are site specific.  Even if you have a current background check at another school, you will need to complete one for RMS).  To submit a background check, please go to  Background checks are valid for a period of 2 years.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make this year’s Immigration Simulation such a success.  Kids really enjoyed the experience and it seemed like parents did as well.  A special thanks to Erika Noteboom for bringing such yummy treats for everyone to enjoy.  Jennifer Snelling came dressed as a nurse to work at the medical station. Scott Lucas and Ric Allen got creative and used some broom handles as batons for their police duties. We had a few officials at the background station gladly taking bribes from those who were desperate to be allowed into the country, which made for a little bit of excitement and intrigue.

Thank you again for all of your efforts.  And lastly, if you’d be interested in participating again next year, feel free to let me know so I can keep you on a back-up list if we don’t have enough 6th grade parents.

Thanks also to everyone who participated in the Dickie Jo’s fundraiser two weeks ago.  Dickie Jo’s donated $175 to Roosevelt.

Please see attachment below. Thank you!

– Sign up now for snow day alert texts!-

When winter weather arrives, schools may be closed or delayed or buses may use snow routes. School districts decide early in the morning whether there is a need to change the school schedule or bus routes. These decisions are made districtwide and are the same for every 4J school.

There are several ways to find out if there is a change on snowy or icy days:

• Text-message alerts via Twitter — to sign up, just text FOLLOW 4JWEATHER to 40404

• 4J website,

• KRVM 91.9 FM

• Other radio and television news stations

If there is a school closure or other change, the school district will announce it before 6:30 a.m. If schools and buses are on their regular schedule, there will NOT be an announcement.

Parents of students who ride school buses that have alternate snow routes have been informed of what to do. Snow route information can be found on the district website at

If school is in session, families are encouraged to consider road conditions in their areas and make their own decisions based on safety. Parents’ individual decisions about school attendance will be honored.
