Thank you to Lisa Woodruff, Gayle Stroud and Nadine Batya for helping with 8th grade pictures.

Also, The students and staff of Roosevelt Middle School would like to shout a big THANK YOU to Julie Marks for the hard work she did as Volunteer Coordinator.  She did a truly amazing job of organizing and bringing together volunteers to help make all of the fun activities a reality for our students.  As we extend our thanks to Julie, we would also like to welcome Laura Fuhriman as the new Volunteer Coordinator. If you have any question about upcoming activities or would like to volunteer please contact her at

The next Activity night is coming up: April 29th from 6:30-8:30. Activity Night is a fun and safe opportunity for all Roosevelt students to socialize in a safe and familiar place.

We are looking for a new chair for this coming Activity Night, who will also organize the one for the school year 2016-2017. You will be given all the instructions and training needed and Laura Fuhriman will co-chair with you for this coming Activity Night. We will need volunteers to help during this coming event. If you are interested for the chair position or for being a volunteer, please contact Laura Fuhriman,. Thanks!

Showcase Roosevelt is May 13th, 6:00-8:30.  Did you know Showcase is our biggest community event and fundraiser of the year?  Showcase is sponsored by PAR and put on by RMS staff, parents, grandparents, and community members–it takes a village to make it happen.  Not only is Showcase a fun family event with games, food, and entertainment, but Showcase is also the main venue through which PAR’s annual commitment of a .25 FTE (or in monetary terms, $27,800) is raised, which helps with staffing for the next school year.  How can you help? Watch for upcoming news about your student’s House Basket themes, then donate toward that theme; look for an upcoming link to sign up to volunteer; donate or ask a local business to donate an item to go in the Silent Auction–it can be as little as a t-shirt or as big as a vacation rental.  Questions? Contact Dana Fleming at or Julie Hubbard-McNall at

*Please note that all volunteers are required to go through a background check at

1 day 9-3, of sheer STEM awesomeness open to all 10-16yr olds.  This April 23rd, STEMCOM will provide hands-on workshops and short STEM presentations.  Young adults ages 10-16 can sign up in advance to guarantee their spot.  Go to for more information and sign-up.

In April, our school is participating in an electronics recycling competition. The school that recycles the most pounds of “e-waste” wins!

NextStep will recycle anything that has a plug, or takes batteries (including any working or broken: cell phones, monitors, computers, toys, etc.).

There are 2 ways to donate your e-waste:

1) Donate directly at NextStep during the month of April. When you drop off your electronics, tell them the name of our school and NextStep will add it to our total collected pounds. (Drop off location: 2101 W. 10th Avenue, Eugene.)

2) Drop off donations directly at school between April 22nd – 30th. Our school will have a large collection box located onsite (ask at the office).

Participating schools (Eugene & Springfield): Adams E., Bertha Holt E., Camas Ridge E., Corridor E., Edgewood E., Edison E., Irving E., Guy Lee E., McCornack E., Ridgeline Montessori, Roosevelt MS, The Village School, Yujin Gakuen E.

Together we can help divert electronic devices from our landfills!

Registration is now open for the 32nd annual South Eugene High School soccer camp! The camp is open for kids entering 1-8th grades. All levels of experience welcome! The camp runs June 20-24. The cost is $130 and we offer a discount for siblings.  Learn more & register:

E. 24th Avenue Parking Meeting

A meeting to discuss potential changes to 24th Avenue from Willamette Street to Alder Street (including parking removal, addition of buffered bike lanes, and other potential projects) will be held Wednesday, April 13th, at 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Middle School (680 E 24th Avenue, Cafeteria). The meeting will present parking utilization data, site plans and long-term traffic control plans on E 24th Avenue. Removal of some parking spaces would facilitate buffered bike lanes on E 24th Avenue and respond to access control plans at the new Roosevelt Middle School.

Hello incoming Parents of the class of 2020.  We would like to cordially invite you to an information session on April 27th in the SEHS auditorium at 7:00 p.m. to help prepare for the transition from Middle to High School.  We are looking forward to having your students in our classrooms this next year and would like to share some information that we know parents have found helpful at this important time for you and your student.  In addition to providing information about summer program opportunities and how to make the most out of the last months of middle school we would like to give parents an opportunity to hear about the most effective ways parents can support their student in the first few weeks or months of their high school careers.  We know this is a busy time of the year with lots happening for each of you so we promise this will be time well spent and will certainly lead to a more successful transition.
