A big thank you to Christie Ferris, Lisa Gandhour and Leslie Plink who answered questions and toured RMS to incoming families during School Choice.
Thank you to all families who have their Fred Meyer rewards card attached to Roosevelt. As a result, Fred Meyer and the Kroger Company donated $97 to Roosevelt.
Thank you to all families who purchased their Christmas trees from Spring Creek Holly Farm. As a result, they donated $40 to Roosevelt.
PLEASE HELP WITH SHOWCASE ROOSEVELT – PLANNING MEETING TOMORROW
There are a variety of different ways in which you can help to make Showcase Roosevelt 2017 a success. Our main committees are: auction and fundraising, publicity and decorations, food, entertainment and showcase of talent, and student activities and games. While some of these categories are still in need of chairs to help guide them, all need manpower in the planning process. If you are interested in helping us put on this year’s event, please join us on Friday, February 3rd, from 9:00-10:00 in the RMS office conference room as we continue planning for Showcase. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact Alexis Borrevik at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will begin meeting more regularly as we get closer to PAR and look forward to working with many Roosevelt families.
Mucho Gusto is sponsoring a fundraiser for Roosevelt on February 2. A group of students in STOP (Start Teaching Others Peace) and the student government class is trying to raise a total of $1,800 to bring a guest speaker, John Halligan, to our school to raise awareness about and prevention of teen suicide, bullying and harassment. Mr. Halligan has presented at schools all across the country. These Roosevelt students feel it would be really helpful for all Roosevelt students to hear Mr. Halligan’s presentation.

ACTIVITY NIGHT – FEBRUARY 10, 2017
The next Activity Night is Friday, February 10, 6:30-8:30pm. Activity Night is a fun and safe opportunity for all Roosevelt students to socialize in a safe and familiar place.
What are some of the activities?
• DJ/Dancing in the small gym
• Karaoke, Bingo, Ping Pong,
• Concessions – pizza, popcorn, juice and more ($.50-$1.00)
• Photo booth (free) with props
• Coat room (lockers are not available to students so you are discouraged from bringing any bags. Activities will be located in the Dining Hall and C Hall only. The rest of the school will be closed, including ALL lockers Use the coat room to store your stuff. Entry will ONLY be through the admission doors.
Who is invited?
Activity Night is for Roosevelt students only except: students wanting to invite a friend who attends another middle school, must fill out a permission form signed by parents and an administrator from both schools. Forms are available in the front office and are due by Wednesday, February 8. Visitors pay $5 for admission.
Drop off and pick up are in the parking lot on the east side of the school. All students enter through the south Dining Hall doors. NO ENTRY AT THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. Students may NOT leave early unless a parent picks them up.
Price: $3.00 in advance ($1.50 for reduced lunch program). $5.00 at the door ($2.50 for reduced lunch program). OR Free for families that qualify. If you purchase admission in advance, you must bring your activity night card with you.
How is the money used?
Proceeds from activity night are first used to cover the expenses of activity night and any remaining funds are used to support various school programs, including field trips, teacher classroom grants, student scholarships and similar uses.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP ARE IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE SCHOOL. All students enter through the south Dining Hall doors. NO ENTRY AT THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.
ACTIVITY NIGHT CARDS GO ON SALE IN HOUSE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6.
All students must be picked up promptly at 8:30pm
REMINDERS ABOUT ACTIVITY NIGHT:
1. Students who purchase activity night cards in advance must bring their activity night cards with them and enter the building at the south side cafeteria door near the theater stage.
2. Students who pay at the door (including guests) enter at the south side cafeteria door near the parking lot.
3. Ask your parents to drop you off at the parking lot.
4. The same rules that apply to clothing during the school day apply at activity night.
5. Students may not go to their lockers during activity night.
6. NO ONE MAY LEAVE EARLY UNLESS YOUR PARENT COMES TO PICK YOU UP.
7. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP PROMPTLY AT 8:30PM.
