Thank you to all our fabulous parent volunteers who helped our school nurse Lourie Morgan and the Lion Club conduct the 7th grade vision screening: Gina Thompson, JoAnn Hoffman, Gary Rayor, Felicie Rasoanandrasan and Jennifer Lamberg.
We have a few shifts available and are always looking for subs. If you are interested, please contact Christie Ferris at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Currently we have openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3:30pm.
PAR (Parents At Roosevelt) is organizing this year’s Showcase, our annual fundraiser for Roosevelt Middle School. We are looking for a few coordinators to help with the event. Even though coordinators take responsibility for an area of Showcase, they do not work by themselves. PAR will give you guidelines and support, and other parents will be volunteering with you. Please go to http://signup.com/go/2KzJnP to see in which area you could help.
Thank you for helping with this fundraising event.
SEND A NOTE IF YOUR STUDENT HAS AN APPOINTMENT DURING THE DAY
Please help us avoid interrupting classes. If your student needs to leave during the school day, please send a note to school with your student, including the time s/he should be excused from class and the reason for leaving. Your student should then show the note to the teacher at the beginning of class and excuse her/himself at the proper time. This is our preferred way of handling students needing to leave during the day. Thank you for handling this in advance and for helping us have fewer interruptions during instructional time.
BICYCLE REGISTRATION DRIVE
Bicycle Registration Drive: Roosevelt, in cooperation with the Eugene Police Department, is hosting a bicycle registration drive on Tuesday 3/14 from 2:30-4:30. Please see the attached flier for more information. Members of the Eugene Police Department will be at RMS to register bicycles. Students and their family members are encouraged to bring their bicycles to register.
ROOSEVELT ROUGHRIDER TRACK AND FIELD 2017
WHEN: Practices begin on Monday, March 20. Practices will be held every Monday-Thursday from 3:45PM – 5:30PM, except on Wednesdays 2:50PM – 4:30PM due to our early release schedule.
WHO: Any current RMS student who is interested in participating on this year’s track team is welcome to participate.
COST: The cost for the season is $100.00 per student-athlete. There are scholarships available based upon individual/family need.
WE DO NOT WANT MONEY TO PREVENT SOMEONE FROM PARTICIPATING!
MEETS: Track meets will begin on Thursday, April 13 and be held most Thursdays until the 4J Middle School District Meet on Thursday, May 24th. Dual meets (the 1st four meets of the season) start @ 4:45 PM and typically last around 2-3 hours.
WHY: Being part of the track team at RMS is important in a variety of ways. First, it provides a healthy activity that many of our students need in our current world of technology and video games. Second, it teaches each athlete the importance of being part of a team. Finally, it gives our students a chance to connect and foster positive, supporting relationships with people, both students and staff, they may not normally interact with during the regular school day.
Required paperwork and season schedules are available in the office and from Coach Eric Johannsen. Please don’t hesitate to contact Coach Johannsen if you have any questions. Phone: 541-790- 8551, johannsen _ email@example.com
Track meets will begin on Thursday, April 13 and be held most Thursdays until the 4J Middle School District Meet on Wednesday, May 24th.
WANTED: PICTURES FOR YEARBOOK
The yearbook team is looking for pictures of Roosevelt students playing extracurricular sports. If you have any good photos of your Roosevelt student playing sports outside of Roosevelt, then before the end of March, email a digital copy to the yearbook at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOMINATE “A CHAMPION IN EDUCATION” TODAY!
Who always makes a difference in your child’s school day? An inspiring teacher? An encouraging school secretary? A dedicated volunteer? A principal who leads by example? A bus driver who always takes the time to listen? Now is the time to recognize their contributions through the annual ACE (A Champion in Education) Awards!
To nominate a 4J employee or volunteer who demonstrates excellence in education, go to The ACE Awards – nomination site. Every nominee will be honored at an awards ceremony in April, and one person in each category will win a $1,000 cash prize toward a project or program in their school.
Nominations must be submitted by March 24.
The ACE Awards are a collaborative effort of the Eugene and Springfield chambers of commerce and the Eugene, Bethel and Springfield school districts. The program is presented by Oregon Community Credit Union and supported by others from the local business community.
