Family, Friend, and Community Donations Needed for Showcase Roosevelt
Showcase Roosevelt, coming up on April 27th, is our biggest and most exciting school-wide event. This evening showcases the talents and skills our students have mastered through the many wonderful programs available at Roosevelt. Showcase also serves as an important fundraiser, featuring a silent auction. Money earned from the auction goes directly back to our school to help the great programs Roosevelt has to offer. The funds raised provide teacher grants, help supplement a portion of staffing, and fill needs that arise during the school year.
At this time we are taking donations for the silent auction. Big or small, consider donating something to this fun event!
Do you own a business that can donate a service or object?
Are you an artist with a piece of work you could donate?
Do you have a vacation home perfect for donation?
Please email our auction chair at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information by April 1st:
Your student’s name
Phone number and email address

Spencer View Apartment Streets/Lanes Not Open to Roosevelt Drop Off or Pick Up
Please remember the Spencer View Apartments, across 24th from Roosevelt, are not open to Roosevelt families for drop off or pick up. UO police have observed Roosevelt families:
1) parking in the fire lane between the tennis courts and the apartments
2) using the apartments’ streets and lanes as shortcuts between Patterson and 24th
3) speeding through the complex.
Please remember, parking or even stopping in a fire lane is illegal. This is private property and not a short cut to Roosevelt. Small children play outside.
Let’s be good neighbors and stay out of the Spencer View Apartment complex. If you have questions, please email UOPD patrol officer Scott Geeting at email@example.com or call 541-346-2919.
Lane Arts Council:
Product of Eugene Apprenticeship Program
Lane Arts Council is excited to announce a unique opportunity for middle and high school students in the Eugene area.
In partnership with the University of Oregon Department of Product Design, and thanks to a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, we have recently launched the Product of Eugene apprenticeship program.
The program offers middle and high school students the opportunity to apprentice with professional product designers, at no cost to participants.
The Product of Eugene apprenticeship program pairs students with an instructor or alumni of the UO Department of Product Design for a total of 25 after-school hours over a ten week period for intensive, hands-on learning. Students and mentors utilize the technology at the 942 Olive Street building in downtown Eugene to craft their innovative products.
Students work alongside their mentor to understand product design and related fields, explore specific ways to approach design, and begin creating innovative products of their own. They also explore the business aspects of a creative career, bolstering college and career readiness regardless of their chosen field.
This year, student-mentor groups have designed cell phone cases, furniture, school desks, bio-degradable kitchen products, innovative recycling bins, multi-rider scooters, and much more. One team has teamed up with InHaus Fabrication and a local coffee shop, Slightly Coffee, to determine the best coffee mug design. They are learning about market research, promotion, design, and fabrication, all through a hands-on experiential process.
We are currently recruiting fifteen-eighteen students for the Spring 2018 Term.
Please encourage students to APPLY TODAY: http://lanearts.org/arts-apprenticeships/
Applications are due March 25th.
