Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences will take place this Thursday Nov. 8th.
If you requested a parent/teacher conference, then you should have received an appointment confirmation through email last week. If you were expecting a confirmation but didn’t receive one contact Karen Kingzett: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Teacher Appreciation Lunch
Our first teacher appreciation event is coming up during parent-teacher conferences and we need your help! We’re providing a lunch of soup, salad, bread, and more for teachers as they meet with parents during the day this Thursday, November 8th. Check out the signup (below) and find a slot or two that works for you. Our teachers always appreciate the delicious meals we provide and we appreciate your contributions to making these events fun and successful.

6th Grade Immigration Simulation
Are you interested in stepping back in time with RMS students? This unforgettable journey through time takes place on November 15th in the Gym, which is transformed into a replica of Ellis Island. Students reenact the immigration process, visiting required stations (staffed by parent volunteers). Please sign up at 6th grade Immigration Simulation.
**We are also looking for a volunteer to organize the event with the support of Chava Benin and Laura Fuhriman, please contact Laura Fuhriman (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible, if this is something that you could do.
Show your school spirit! Roosevelt tee shirts and sweatshirts are now available to order until November 16th. Choices include short and long-sleeve t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts.

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training
Is your middle schooler interested in babysitting? If so, the Eugene Family YMCA is hosting an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training on Saturday, Nov. 17th. See details below. Registration deadline is Monday, November 5th.
What: American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training
When: Saturday, November 17
Who: Those 11 years and older
Where: EUGENE FAMILY YMCA
Cost: $85 for Members – $95 for Non-Members (financial assistance available if needed)
In the course, students will learn how to:
– Supervise children and infants
– Perform basic child-care skills such as diapering, feeding and dressing
– Choose safe, age-appropriate games and toys
– Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries
– Care for common injuries such as burns, cuts and bee stings
– Communicate effectively with parents
– Find and interview for babysitting jobs
Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Certification in Red Cross Babysitter’s Training.
