Congratulations 8th Graders!

To celebrate the culmination of the 8th graders’ middle school experience, we will be holding an 8th Grade Promotion Drive/Bike Through Ceremony on Tuesday, June 9th.

We truly wish we could hold our traditional promotion ceremony and 8th grade dance. The district has approved a promotion drive/bike through ceremony for all middle schools.

Here are the details for 8th graders and their families:

Entry Times:
* 6:30 – 7:00 last name A – H
* 7:00 – 7:30 last name I – Q
* 7:30 – 8:00 last name R – Z

Directions:
* Head east on W 24th and turn right into the RMS Entrance
* Turn RIGHT into the carpool lane
* Follow the carpool lane around and past the front of school
* Turn RIGHT at the corner of the soccer field to leave RMS out Hilyard
* Follow exit signs

To support traffic flow, please avoid driving west and turning left on 24th into the RMS parking lot.

Staff will be stationed alongside the carpool lane, waving and cheering on the students as they move through the Roosevelt Loop.

Staff will maintain 6 feet of separation with cones and/or balloons. The entrance of the school will be decorated and festive for our students. Due to social distancing restrictions, we are asking families to stay in their vehicles and not congregate on site.

Update on Yearbook Distribution

Yearbooks went to the printer later than usual this year because of shutdowns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, yearbooks will not be delivered to Roosevelt until sometime during the summer.  The plan to distribute to families will be shared in August. Thank you for your patience.

Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestras–Auditions and 2020-21 Season Programming

ESYO board and staff have created alternative plans and programs next year, if we are unable to meet as an orchestra. We’re hoping small groups will be possible, and we are creating strings education videos and will hold master classes, lesson, and sectionals online.

Our auditions are now open to any young musician! The auditions are scheduled to take place over zoom June 11, 12, and 13. As this is quite short notice, we will happily extend the deadline into the next week for new students. The link to the process is below, and includes audition steps, schedule, and links to sign-up forms. They will be short, requiring only scales and a 3 min. solo.

We feel confident that we can still provide unique musical experiences for young musicians – and scholarships for private lessons and program fees will continue as always.

AUDITION PROCESS: https://esyorchestras.org/auditions/process/

The original deadline for sign-up was Friday, June 5th so students need to submit their sign-up form as soon as possible. We will send their assigned audition time soon after that.
