Zoom and Canvas Issues
This week we have had several students reporting that they are unable to access Zoom because the meeting has expired or ended. It seems to be a caching issue in Google Chrome. Below is the best possible fix we have at this time:
 1. In Chrome, click on the three dots located in the upper right hand corner.
2. Scroll down to “Settings.”
3. In “Settings,” scroll down to “Privacy.”
4. In “Privacy,” click the “Clear Browsing Data.”
5. Make sure “Time Range” is set to “All Time” and select “everything.”
6. Clear “Browsing Data” at the bottom.
7. Restart the iPad and try accessing Canvas again via Chrome.
8. You can also try using the Canvas app after closing all other apps.

8th Grade Promotion Parade and Promenade
Eighth grade families, please mark your calendars now for our Promotion event. Though we won’t be together in school, we do have a fun evening planned for Thursday, June 17, the last day of school, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. This event is for all students, hybrid, Same School Online, and Eugene Online Academy. Students will be able to step out of their cars and walk on the sidewalk along the pause parking lane of the school parking lot to be announced and receive their Promotion certificates.

We’ll send a map next week and in the meantime, please come at the suggested time below so we can avoid traffic back-ups:

* 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM Last names A – C
* 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM Last names D – H
* 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM Last names I – L
* 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM Last names M – Q
* 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM Last names R – S
* 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM Last names T – Z

If you cannot attend during your scheduled time, we understand. Please feel free to come anytime that evening. For families that cannot attend, we’ll make arrangements to send you your Promotion certificates.

A big thank you to our volunteer coordinator Laura Fuhriman and our small army of parents who are organizing the event!

The Generosity of a Prince
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Prince Puckler’s Ice Cream for generously donating a free ice cream cone to each 8th grader at the June 17th promotion!

That’s right, when you attend the promotion on your very last day of school at RMS, along with a festive send off, 8th graders will receive a coupon good for one free ice cream cone at Prince Puckler’s! Now that’s sweet!

Cheers to our 8th graders…and Prince Puckler’s Ice Cream!!!

Textbooks and Supplies Due Back on Wednesday, June 9
Please return all choice reading books and textbooks to the return cart outside the RMS front door on Wednesday, June 9, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  If you come across any RMS library books or other school material before the year ends, we’d love to have those back– thanks… and thank you for supporting our library!

We will hold an additional day for turning in supplies the week of June 14, time and day to be announced next week.

Turning In Your iPad
8th-grade students will return their iPads on Thursday, June 17 either during the school day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or at Promotion that night.

6th and 7th grade students can keep their iPads over the summer, or, if you’d like to return them, you may do so on Thursday, June 17 or Friday, June 18.

Ordering School Photos
The Lifetouch website to order school pictures closed 48 hours after the last picture day. If you missed that window but still wish to purchase pictures, you will need to wait to receive the portrait ID and access code. The portrait ID and access code will be printed on the proofs that will be delivered to Roosevelt by the end of the school year. In addition, you may call Lifetouch’s customer service department at 866-955-8342.

It is also a great opportunity to build rewarding bonds and teamwork skills.

SPICE Camp is Open for Summer Fun!

Participation is open to students who will be in the 6th through 9th grades in Fall 2021. SPICE camp is designed to yield maximum benefit to girls. Preference is given to girls, transgender, and non-binary applicants. For boys who are interested in a similar experience, we recommend camps from the Eugene Science Center, Nearby Nature, and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

South Eugene Soccer Club Registration
The South Eugene Soccer Club is pleased to announce opening registration for the annual South Eugene Soccer Day Camp!

The camp is for campers entering grades 1st through 8th in the fall of 2021. The camp will run for five days, from Monday June 21 through Friday June 25, 9 AM to 2 PM each day.

This year we are lucky to get civic park field located at the Kidsports fieldhouse as an additional site and so will split the camp — grades one through four will be at the civic park field, and grades five through eight will be at South Eugene High School.

Each set of campers will be supervised by a South Eugene High School soccer coach – either Ty Ohrtman or James Bilderbeck.
Each coach will be assisted by volunteer players from South Eugene High School teams. And volunteer parents will be at both sites to assist with things like registration, Covid protocols, and anything that may arise during camp. Each day, campers need to bring: (1) lunch and a snack; (2) a full water bottle; and (3) a soccer ball. Please ensure these things are clearly marked with the camper’s name. We will have water on site too but please ensure water bottles arrive full.

This year, due to Lane County and other health guidance, campers must wear a mask at all times while at camp, except when eating lunch or drinking water. We will structure breaks and lunch periods to ensure campers maintain a safe distance when not wearing a mask. We will also ask each arriving camper (or his/parent guardian) questions about personal health and exposures. All of this is meant to keep every camper and our community as a whole as healthy as possible.

Camp tuition is $160 for the week, and $150 for additional siblings. For those who need assistance and meet guidelines for public school free or reduced lunches, the tuition is $100. If you have the means, we ask that you consider a small donation ($25) to help us offer assisted tuition.

If you have any remaining questions about the camp, please email us at southeugenesoccerclub@gmail.com, and we’ll respond promptly.
