Roosevelt Track and Field 2024

The Roosevelt 2024 track and field season starts March 11, 2024. Any current Roosevelt student interested in participating in track and field can complete the required forms on Arbiter Sports.

The team will meet Monday - Thursday each week from 3:50 - 5:15 PM except on early release days where they'll meet from 2:45 - 4:15 PM. Track meets will be held on Thursdays beginning April 18th. Student athletes must be present at no less than two practices during the week to participate in that week's track meet. Our team is open to all - experienced track and field athletes and beginners, as well.

State law requires that student-athletes complete sports physical exams every two years when participating in athletics. Therefore, if the athlete's last sports physical examination was before May 25, 2022 a new one must be completed before any participation, either in practices or in meets, is permitted. The sports physical forms, completed and signed by your student-athlete's medical care provider, MUST BE submitted to the school office along with all of the other required forms. School District 4J charges a $100 per student-athlete participation fee to cover the costs of running the middle school track and field program in Eugene School District 4J. We ask that each family pay as much as they are able. Partial and full scholarships are available based upon individual/family need. WE DO NOT WANT MONEY TO PREVENT ANYONE FROM PARTICIPATING! Proof of insurance is required for all student-athletes. If your student is not fully covered by insurance carried by the parent/guardian, then School Time student accident insurance is available through Myers-Stevens & Toohey. Application forms are available online.

There are also numerous opportunities for parents to volunteer. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the track season. Each middle school in our district is responsible for running different events at the sub-district meet (usually in late April at a local high school) and district meet (usually in early May in either Eugene or Springfield). Examples of volunteer opportunities include race timers, finish line judges, and field event officials. Procedural instructions and training will be provided to anyone willing to volunteer. Can't volunteer? Donate! Donated funds are used to provide scholarships, purchase equipment and uniforms, and cover other miscellaneous expenses throughout the season. Being part of the track team at Roosevelt is important in a variety of ways. First, it provides a healthy activity that many of our students need in our current world of technology and video games. Second, it teaches each athlete the importance of being part of a team. Finally, it gives our students a chance to connect and foster positive, supporting relationships with people, both students and staff, they may not normally interact with during the regular school day.  All completed forms must be turned in at the office before students may begin practice.
