Dear 8^th Grade Students and Families:                   

Eighth-grade Promotion and celebration activities are drawing near. Please read the following information for activities on the last days of school. We look forward to a safe, fun, and exciting end of the school year!

IMPORTANT 8TH GRADE DATES AND EVENTS:

Thursday, June 11:   

• 2:10 pm  Mandatory Promotion rehearsal during 6th-7th periods 
• 6:00 pm  8th grade students arrive for Promotion and stage in the small gym
• 6:30 pm  Promotion event in the large gym

Friday, June 12:        

• 8:30 am - 12:35 pm Early release school day for all students, including 8th grade students
• 10:00 - 12:20  End of Year Celebration at YMCA

Promotion is Thursday, June 11 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

• The event starts at 6:30 pm and 8th grade students arrive at 6:00 pm to stage in the small gym.  During 6th-7th periods on June 12, all 8th grade students have mandatory rehearsal from 2:10 - 3:40 pm.  
• Any student who does not attend rehearsal, will NOT participate in the Promotion event unless prior arrangements are made in advance with an administrator.
• Immediately following Promotion, 8th graders are encouraged to meet their families on the soccer field for pictures. 
• Parking:  As you know, parking at Roosevelt is limited.  Parking is available at the following locations:  

1. In the Roosevelt parking lot,  please do not park in the fire lane or the green pause parking lane;
2. Lot at 24^th and Amazon Parkway, next to the tennis courts; 
3. Bus loading zone in front of the building, and;
4. The YMCA parking lot.

Please note that additional parking spaces for people with disabilities will be available, and please use those accessible parking spots only if you have an accessible parking sticker.

The 8th Grade End of Year Celebration at the YMCA is Friday, June 12 from 10:00 - 12:20 pm.

• Eighth graders will attend school on Friday and be treated to a private event at the YMCA. If students do not attend school on Friday, they may not attend the YMCA event.
• The YMCA is opening up the pool, gym, creation station, and corner hut for a private event for Roosevelt students from 10:00 - 12:20 on the last day of school. We’re grateful to the YMCA for their support and planning for this event. This should be a lot of fun for our 8th graders! 8th graders will gather at 9:45 in the cafeteria to take attendance and go over rules & expectations. Students will return to RMS at 12:30.
• Students will need to bring a swim suit and towel if they intend to swim.
• Activities: 
  • The pool: lap pool, small pool, spray pad, WIBIT
  • The gym: GaGa ball, giant cup stacking, free rec time
  • Creation Station & Corner Hut:
• Important notes:
  • Students may not leave early unless a parent makes arrangements with an administrator prior to the event or is present to sign out the student.
  • Students need to bring a swim suit and towel if they intend to swim.
  • Students must take a swim test to use the pool.
  • Students are expected to follow the school rules of conduct while at the event. We'll review these in the cafeteria prior to leaving.
  • Students may not participate in the YMCA event if they do not attend school that day.
