Hello Roosevelt Families,
We hope this message finds you well, and we hope your student(s) are finding themselves settled into the school year as we enter the 5th full week of school.
RMS is in need of a volunteer to lead our Yearbook team this year. If you are a creative person who enjoys working with middle schoolers, this is a fun and rewarding opportunity. The Yearbook team meets once per week, on Wednesday after school, and is responsible for producing our annual yearbook. If you are interested, please contact Mike Yocum or Laura Fuhriman.
We've noticed a few students bringing stuffed animals and other toys to school. We kindly ask that students do not bring stuffed animals and/or other toys to school.
Next week on Thursday evening, 10/16, we hope to see you at our Parents at Roosevelt (PAR) group meeting at 6:30pm in the RMS library or online via Google Meet.
We’d also like to highlight our daily Homework Club. Homework Club happens everyday before school (8:30 - 8:55) and everyday after school (M, T, TH, F 3:40 - 4:15, W: 2:35 - 3:15). Homework Club is an excellent opportunity for students to get additional help. There’s no need to sign up in advance, although we do keep track of who attends.
Have a great week, all, and please reach out if there’s anything we can support with!
Mike & Kelsea

On Wednesday October 8th, 2025 our school is participating in the Walk + Roll to School Challenge!
If you’d like to help with this year’s Walk + Roll to School Challenge, please Sign up HERE
We’re encouraging every family to use active transportation — like walking, biking, scooting, or skating — or shared transportation, such as the bus or carpooling. Together, we can improve students’ health, learning, and independence, while also making traffic around our school safer and reducing our impact on the environment.
Students who walk, bike, or roll to school will receive a ticket when they arrive. Tickets will be entered into a raffle for fun prizes — including a skateboard, water bottle, hat, and shoelaces! Even if driving is your only option, you can still “Park and Stride” by parking a short distance from school and walking the rest of the way. Students who ride the bus, carpool, or park and stride will also be entered into the raffle.
We may even have a special visit from the Bike Fairy again this year!
Let’s get moving together and celebrate safe, healthy, and fun ways to get to school.
If you’d like to help with this year’s Walk + Roll to School Challenge, please Sign up HERE

Free LTD Transit Passes for students!
All students in 4J schools can get a student pass to ride Lane Transit District (LTD) buses for free. Student transit passes can be used to travel anywhere within the LTD service area. Student passes can be used at any time—after school, weekends and during school breaks, as well as to get to and from school each day. To get a free LTD student transit pass middle school students can request their own passes at the front office. Passes are valid through September 30 and renew annually.
LTD free student bus passes should work throughout students’ time at 4j. If you try to use your pass and it doesn’t work, please go to the front office right away with your pass to get it renewed. If you lose your pass or it is stolen, the front office at your school can replace it for you.

We are a group of high school students dedicated to making positive change in the community. With our tutoring department we will be offering free tutoring services for students in need of extracurricular assistance.
This year we would like more students to get the opportunity to get tutored, and make sure the students are benefiting from it. We have tutors in a series of subjects and are ready to help students however possible.
