Hello RMS Families,
I hope this message finds you and your family well!
It’s spring, and there’s lots happening at RMS… track & field, field trips, 9th Grade Family Night at SEHS, upcoming state testing, and Showcase Roosevelt is less than two weeks away.
Please see below for information on volunteering at Showcase Roosevelt (we’re looking for volunteers!), 9th grade Family Night, and state testing.
Have a great week all, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if Kelsea or I can assist with anything.
Mike & Kelsea |
Showcase Roosevelt is just two weeks away, and we are seeking volunteers to help out! There are lots of ways to help out, including set up, take down, and everything in between. We hope you'll join us and sign up at this link to volunteer.
Showcase is Roosevelt's annual opportunity to show off what's happening at Roosevelt. It's also our biggest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised from Showcase help PAR approve staff grants, purchase break room supplies, and provide food for Staff Appreciation. We hope you’ll join us! The RMS Band and Orchestra are playing along with the RMS Staff Band. We’ll have a silent auction, the Roosevelt Circus, Staffle Raffle, pizza, desserts, food trucks, and games to play! This year at Showcase we'll have bingo, face painting, a photo booth, lollipop pull, hang with the animals, cornhole, ping pong, and more! We hope to see you there!
Also, if you have any fun photo booth items you wouldn't mind donating (sunglasses, glasses, necklaces, hats, feather boas, suit jackets, ties, bow ties, robes, wigs, anything fun!), the organizers would be appreciative!
Showcase is 6:00 - 8:30 on Friday, April 24th.
The evening kicks off with performances from the Roosevelt Band and Orchestra beginning at 6:00 in the cafeteria! See you there! |
Each Spring, all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders participate in the Oregon Statewide Assessment System (OSAS) testing. These tests help guide systems-level decisions and comparisons about instructional efficacy. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders take ELA (English Language Arts) and Mathematics tests. 8th graders also take the Science test. Additionally, all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are provided an opportunity to complete the Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey, which asks about access to resources, school connections, and academic opportunities. Click here for more information about OSAS tests, and click here for more details about the SEED survey or see the document below.
This year, we are changing how we do state assessments at Roosevelt. Students will be testing in their subject area classes (ELA, Math, & Science), and we will not be running a special testing schedule. ELA will test the week of May 4, Math the week of May 11, and Science the week of May 18 (8th grade only).
We gain valuable information about the academic health and wellness of our school from these assessments.
You may opt out your child at any time for selected tests and/or the SEED survey. Opt out forms and additional information can be found online at this link. To opt your child out of the SEED survey, use this form or the document below. Students who opt out will remain in their classroom while their classmates test, maintaining a quiet environment. |

We are a group of high school students dedicated to making positive change in the community. With our tutoring department we will be offering free tutoring services for students in need of extracurricular assistance.
This year we would like more students to get the opportunity to get tutored, and make sure the students are benefiting from it. We have tutors in a series of subjects and are ready to help students however possible.
